Trudy HelgeTrudy D.  Helge, Psy.D. brings a wealth of consultation, psychotherapy and administrative skills to Women’s Mental Health Associates where she is Director of Health Psychology and Director of Program Development.  Dr. Helge received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She specialized in health psychology and behavioral medicine, an interest which continued through her dissertation research at the UCSF Mt. Zion Cancer Center; internship at the Louis Stokes, Cleveland VA Medical Center; and Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Helge has served as the Division Chief of both Behavioral Medicine and Adult Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente, South Sacramento.  She has provided consultation and treatment services to patients seen in primary care, women’s health, reproductive endocrinology, urology, oncology, cardiology, rheumatology, infectious disease, psychiatry, audiology, renal dialysis and smoking cessation departments.  Dr. Helge was the recipient of the 2003 Most Valuable Contribution to Behavioral Medicine Award from the Regional Psychological Society of Kaiser Permanente of Northern California.

Dr. Helge’s cutting-edge experience working in health and mental health settings and program development is dedicated to adults and older teens experiencing medical problems including infertility, PCOS, pregnancy and post-partum related issues, cancer, chronic pain, chronic medical conditions, insomnia, smoking cessation, and hearing difficulties. Dr. Helge is a proponent of evidenced-based care with an interest in expanding research in complimentary therapies. She uses a variety of techniques in her consultation and psychotherapy practice including guided imagery, hypnosis and various relaxation techniques; and enjoys empowering women to reach their full potential physically, mentally and spiritually.  Dr. Helge is a dynamic speaker who enjoys presenting workshops to professional and community audiences on a host of health and mental health topics.
